During the weekend Sauber announced that Marcus Ericsson, who has been racing for Caterham this year, will be racing for them in 2015. This has led to Sauber’s currently contracted drivers Adrian Sutil and Esteban Guttierez, along with reserve driver Giedo Van der Garde all vying for the final seat. You could also throw Sauber’s other reserve driver, Sergey Sirotkin into the mix as well.
Sauber’s situation is now similar to the one apparently happening at McLaren where there are more drivers than there are seats available. Eric Boullier, Racing Director at McLaren, apologised during the weekend to McLaren fans for the delay in announcing their own driver line up for 2015, stressing that it was important for the team to get the right drivers for next year.
With the 2014 season coming to a close, hopefully more teams will be announcing their 2015 line ups before the final race in Abu Dhabi.
