Pre Race: German Grand Prix

  • 2014 winners: MotoGP – Marc Marquez; Moto2 – Dominique Aegerter; Moto3 – Jack Miller

Round nine of the MotoGP season takes place from Sachsenring in Germany, as all three championship’s continue to develop.

Miguel Oliveira secured victory last time out at Assen, but championship leader Danny Kent still managed to extend his lead after his closest rival, Enea Bastianini, finished only sixth whilst Kent finished third. The last time Oliveira won a Grand Prix prior to Assen, that being the Italian Grand Prix, Danny Kent went on to win the following round which was the Catalan Grand Prix. Is such a pattern going to repeat itself?

No rider has achieved back to back wins in the class since Danny Kent at the Spanish Grand Prix, five rounds ago, which was his third win in a row.

Johann Zarco extended his championship lead over Tito Rabat after he won in Assen, ahead of Rabat. Sam Lowes continued his good form, finishing third, which was his fourth consecutive points finish. Both Zarco and Rabat have strung together a series of consecutive podium finishes, will Lowes be able to join the other two Moto2 riders and string together a similar run of podium finishes?

Zarco’s win in Assen made him the first rider in the class to claim back to back victories. Is Zarco going to make it three wins in a row, or will someone halt his streak?

Valentino Rossi stopped the recent winning run of his teammate Jorge Lorenzo by taking the win last time out at Assen. The gap between the two Yamaha riders is now ten points in the championship.

Going into the race there are six riders who have scored points in every round so far this season. Will they all score points in Germany?
