The third round of the 2019 FIA Formula 3 Championship saw Estonian, Juri Vips, take the feature race victory while Briton, Jake Hughes, claimed the sprint race victory after a penalty was given to the driver who actually crossed the line first, Robert Shwartzman.
A good weekend for…
Six drivers on the grid managed to finish the weekend in Austria scoring nineteen points or more. Those being Vips, Max Fewtrell, Jehan Daruvala, Hughes, Shwartzman and Marcus Armstrong.
There were also good weekend’s for Leonardo Pulcini and Lirim Zendeli who both scored their first points of the season with Pulcini scoring eight, while Zendeli managed six points across the weekend.Embed from Getty Images
A bad weekend for…
After the high of France, it was a more difficult weekend for Pedro Piquet, in part due to a spin at the start of the sprint race which dropped him down the order, scuppering his chance of scoring more than the eight points he eventually finished the weekend with.
There were also difficult weekend’s for Bent Viscaal, Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson who having claimed twenty six points between them in France, didn’t manage to score any points between them during the two races in Austria.Embed from Getty Images
Formula 3 will return in mid-July when it supports Formula 1 at the British Grand Prix.
