IndyCar contested the twelfth round of its 2019 season over the weekend in Iowa, which was the series third oval race of the season.
Penske’s Josef Newgarden extended his championship lead, claiming victory while his nearest rival, Alexander Rossi, finished sixth. It means that the gap between the two now stands at twenty nine points.
Simon Pagenaud followed up his win in Toronto by claiming pole position and then finishing fourth.
Reigning IndyCar champion, Scott Dixon followed up his second place finish in Toronto with another runner-up finish in Iowa. It’s his seventh top three finish of the season so far.
It was a good race for James Hinchcliffe who claimed his best finish of the season after claiming third at the weekend.

Spencer Pigot meanwhile equalled his best finish of the season, finishing fifth, matching his result at the IndyCar Grand Prix back in May.
Tony Kanaan claimed his second top ten finish of the season at Iowa. His other top ten finish came at the Indy 500.
Lastly, Graham Rahal achieved his sixth consecutive top ten finish during the weekend, after finishing eighth.Embed from Getty Images
