This weekend is due to see Super Formula contest the second round of its 2020 season at Okayama.
Ryo Hirakawa will enter the weekend leading the championship with a seven point advantage over second placed Kenta Yamashita. Completing the top three in the championship is Sacha Fenestraz who is three points behind Yamashita and five points ahead of fourth placed Kazuki Nakajima.

Reigning Super Formula champion Nick Cassidy starts the weekend sixth in the standings and 18 points off Hirakawa. 2013 and 2018 champion Naoki Yamamoto is down in thirteenth having failed to score any points in the opening round of the season.
With points being awarded to the top three in qualifying as well as a driver’s best five results being counted at the end of the season, there is still opportunities for the likes of Cassidy and Yamamoto to cut into Hirakawa’s lead.
Last season’s race at Okayama was the penultimate round of the season and was won by Kenta Yamashita ahead of Kazuki Nakajima and Harrison Newey. Cassidy finished down in tenth and Yamamoto finished seventh.
